Lambert and McLoughlin, a former New York City police officer, have been married since 2019. The couple’s relationship became public when they surprised fans with their wedding announcement after maintaining a low-profile romance. McLoughlin relocated to Nashville after their marriage, embracing his new life in the countryside with Lambert.

In a previous interview with PEOPLE in October 2019, Lambert opened up about her decision to keep her marriage private initially, contrasting it with her prior public marriage and divorce from fellow country artist Blake Shelton. “I was married before, and it was a huge wedding and everything was very public. So was my divorce. I learned then that it’s not for everybody else,” Lambert stated.

Lambert has expressed her appreciation for McLoughlin’s honesty and straightforward manner in past interviews.
