CHICAGO — Mitchell Robinson returned to the Knicks on Friday after missing the start of the season due to what the team called ‘left ankle injury load management.’ In his first comments since returning, Robinson offered little clarity about his absence. ‘I ain’t telling you nothing,’ he said.

Robinson missed four games and was unclear on whether this load management plan will continue throughout the season. ‘I don’t know,’ he answered when asked about the future of his playing time. Previously, he participated in three preseason games but was sidelined without clear explanation.

Knicks head coach Mike Brown confirmed that Robinson was never reinjured and the decision to keep him out was based on a plan set by the medical staff. Robinson, however, asserted that he is involved in discussions about his playing time. ‘Of course,’ he said.

Robinson’s approach seems focused on maintaining long-term health, especially after missing 65 games last season due to injury. He is preparing to enter free agency next summer if a contract extension is not reached.

During his absence, Robinson expressed concern about the team’s performance. ‘It’s been stressful, stressful to watch. What I bring a lot to the table, we’re missing right now,’ he said.

As a rebounding and defensive specialist, Robinson’s role is crucial for the Knicks as they pursue a championship this season. Yet, questions remain about his readiness. ‘The running is going to be a bear at first, but I’m going to keep working and keep pushing myself,’ he noted.

In other news, the Knicks announced they have exercised their contract option for 2024 on Pacome Dadiet, a first-round draft pick expected to gain experience in the G League.

The Knicks have struggled early, winning their first two home games but losing three straight on the road. The team is focusing on improving its physicality and execution, especially in light of Robinson’s return.
