MLS Cup 2024: LA Galaxy to Host New York Red Bulls in Historic Final
The stage is set for the 2024 MLS Cup, with the LA Galaxy and the New York Red Bulls ready to clash in the championship match. The LA Galaxy secured their spot in the final with a dramatic 1-0 victory over the Seattle Sounders FC in the Western Conference Final. The decisive goal came in the 85th minute, courtesy of Dejan Joveljić, who slotted the ball past Seattle goalkeeper Stefan Frei after a feed from Riqui Puig.
The New York Red Bulls, meanwhile, booked their second-ever trip to the MLS Cup by defeating Orlando City SC 1-0 in the Eastern Conference Final. The winning goal was scored by Andres Reyes in the 47th minute, assisted by a precise free kick from John Tolkin. This marks the Red Bulls’ first MLS Cup appearance since 2008.
The 2024 MLS Cup will be held on Saturday, December 7, at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California, with kickoff set for 4 pm ET (1 pm PT). The match will be broadcast on Apple TV, FOX, FOX Deportes, TSN, and RDS. The LA Galaxy, seeking their sixth MLS Cup title and their first since 2014, will have home advantage, a significant factor given that six of the past seven MLS Cup finals have been won by the home team.
The New York Red Bulls, as the lowest-ever seed (No. 7 in the Eastern Conference) to reach the MLS Cup, have embraced their underdog role and will look to continue their impressive postseason form. A victory would not only secure their first MLS Cup but also qualify them for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.
