Mohammed Siraj Shines in IPL with Record-Winning Performance

HYDERABAD, India — Mohammed Siraj of the Gujarat Titans delivered a stellar performance during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, leading to a decisive seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday. Siraj achieved remarkable figures of 4/17, bringing his total to nine wickets in just four matches this season and climbing to a joint second position in the Purple Cap standings.

In a match held at Uppal Stadium, Siraj dismantled the Sunrisers’ batting order, claiming key wickets of Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Simranjeet Singh, and Aniket Verma. His exceptional control and pace marked a significant improvement from earlier in the tournament, culminating in a personal milestone of 100 IPL wickets across 97 matches.

“I felt good out there today,” said Siraj. “I aimed to start strong and keep the pressure on their batsmen. Getting early wickets was crucial.”

Chennai Super Kings’ Noor Ahmed continues to lead in the Purple Cap race with ten wickets, while Delhi Capitals‘ bowler is tied with Siraj, also having claimed nine wickets but in three matches. Other competitors for the Purple Cap include Mitchell Starc from Delhi Capitals and Sai Kishore from Gujarat Titans, both showing impressive form this season.

Meanwhile, in the Orange Cap race, Nicholas Pooran of Lucknow Super Giants maintains his position as the top batsman with 201 runs, followed closely by Sai Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans, who has scored 191 runs and is considered a key player in keeping his team competitive.

“Each match is a new opportunity,” said Sudharsan. “We are all working hard, and Siraj’s performance really boosts our morale.”
