Montreal Canadiens Face Dallas Stars in High-Stakes NHL Showdown
MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens and Dallas Stars, two of the NHL‘s hottest teams, will clash at the Bell Centre on Saturday, January 11, 2025, in a highly anticipated matchup. The Canadiens, fresh off a 3-2 overtime victory against the Washington Capitals, are riding an 8-2-0 streak in their last 10 games. Meanwhile, the Stars are on a six-game winning streak, including a 4-1 win over the Philadelphia Flyers.
The game, set for 7:00 p.m. ET, will be broadcast on Citytv, Sportsnet East, and TVA Sports, with radio coverage on TSN 690 and 98.5 FM. The Canadiens, currently fifth in the Atlantic Division, are just one point shy of a Wild Card spot in the Eastern Conference. The Stars, third in the Central Division, boast one of the league’s best defensive records, allowing only 2.50 goals per game.
Montreal’s recent success has been fueled by captain Nick Suzuki and linemate Cole Caufield. Suzuki has been instrumental in overtime, securing his fourth OT winner of the season against the Capitals. Caufield, on a five-game goal streak, has matched his career high. Both players have historically performed well against Dallas, with Suzuki tallying 11 points in eight games and Caufield notching four in five outings.
For the Stars, Jason Robertson has been a standout, amassing 11 points (3 goals, 8 assists) during their six-game win streak. The 25-year-old forward has 34 points in 40 games this season and recently surpassed 200 career NHL assists. Dallas goaltender Jake Oettinger, who ranks in the top 10 for goals against average (2.41), will start against the Canadiens.
The game also features pregame festivities as part of Molson FANatic Saturdays, including a trivia contest at Les Trois Monkeys on Peel Street and an autograph session with former MMA champion Georges St-Pierre. DJ Juice will provide entertainment during warmups, adding to the electric atmosphere at the Bell Centre.
Statistically, the Canadiens have shown significant improvement since December 17, with a .818 points percentage, a +17 goal differential, and a .909 save percentage. The Stars, however, have been dominant on the road, winning four straight away games and outscoring opponents 25-12 during their current streak.
With both teams in peak form, Saturday’s matchup promises to be a thrilling contest as the Canadiens aim to continue their climb in the standings and the Stars look to extend their winning streak.
