Mookie Betts Returns as Dodgers Face Mets at Home

LOS ANGELES, CA — Mookie Betts is set to return to the Los Angeles Dodgers lineup tonight against the New York Mets after missing four games due to a toe fracture. The game is scheduled to begin at 10:10 p.m. PDT at Dodger Stadium.
Betts’ return comes at a crucial time as the Dodgers aim to defeat their long-standing rivals. Earlier this week, the Dodgers faced the Mets in a series where pitcher Clayton Kershaw struggled with a rain delay during his last start. Kershaw’s outing on May 23 at Citi Field was cut short due to a 98-minute rain delay.
Tonight’s game will feature Tony Gonsolin on the mound for the Dodgers, following a successful run of three starts from pitchers on four days’ rest. Gonsolin, along with teammates Dustin May and Kershaw, have collectively allowed just two runs in 16 innings while recording 15 strikeouts.
The Mets will counter with Griffin Canning starting on the mound. The Dodgers have had a strong record of 8-2 on Wednesdays this season, making it their most successful day of the week to play.
Manager Dave Roberts noted that Betts’ return is a welcome boost for the team as they progress through a challenging stretch against formidable opponents.
In other news, pitcher Tyler Glasnow is still recovering from shoulder inflammation and is experiencing further discomfort, according to Roberts.
