Mountaineers Prepare for Key Matchups Against Colorado and Arizona State
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University (WVU) football team will face critical matchups in the coming weeks. On Monday, the Big 12 announced that the Mountaineers will kick off against Colorado at 1 p.m. ET on Saturday, November 4, airing nationally on TNT.
WVU is gearing up to travel to Arizona State, last season’s conference champion, for their final road game. Arizona State stands at a 6-3 record with a 4-2 mark in Big 12 play. However, before they turn their focus to Arizona State, the Mountaineers must first tackle Colorado, who is also 3-6 and has lost its last game to Arizona 52-17.
Despite their 3-6 record, West Virginia’s offense showed promise in their last outing against BYU, where they recorded 403 total yards and forced four turnovers. Scotty Fox’s leadership has been pivotal, contributing significantly to the ground game with 246 rushing yards. This performance has made them a 5.5-point favorite against Colorado, with FanDuel listing them at 6.5.
In the scouting department, WVU may score a significant recruitment win as four-star offensive lineman Kevin Brown considers flipping from his commitment to Penn State. A Harrisburg native, Brown’s connection to West Virginia runs deep; his father played under Rich Rodriguez during his first stint with the Mountaineers. As one of the top offensive tackles in the nation, his potential commitment would bolster WVU’s recruitment efforts.
In addition to Brown, the Mountaineers will host multiple prospects during their final home games of the season. 6-foot-5, 290-pound three-star recruit Dominic Black from New Madison, Ohio, has confirmed he will attend the game against Colorado. Black carries nine Division I offers and has received attention from schools like Marshall and Maryland.
As the Mountaineers prepare for their weekend matchup, both the football and basketball programs look to attract talent and build for future successes.
