Murray State Men’s Basketball Moves Game to Carbondale Amid Power Outage

CARBONDALE, Ill. – Murray State University’s men’s basketball game against Southern Illinois University, originally set to take place in Murray, Kentucky, has been relocated to Carbondale due to a power outage on the Murray State campus. The game, scheduled for 6 p.m. CT on Wednesday, February 19, will proceed as planned at the Banterra Center.
The decision to move the game comes after a direct lightning strike caused the ongoing outage, prompting officials to consider various alternative venues. “After exhausting all possible options and assessing the risk of severe weather, it was decided to play the game in Carbondale,” said a Murray State spokesperson.
Despite the venue change, the game will be classified as a home game for Murray State. Tickets purchased for the original location at CFSB Center will be honored at Banterra Center by presenting a valid ticket—be it digital or printed—at the entrance. For attendees without prior tickets, they can buy admission at the door for $5 cash.
General admission seating will be available throughout the arena, with Section 102 specifically reserved for Murray State fans. Free parking for all patrons will be provided outside the Banterra Center on a first-come, first-served basis.
The game will feature broadcasting via the Saluki Radio Network and will also be streamed live on ESPN+. Additionally, live statistics will be accessible for fans following the matchup.
