Myles Garrett Ready for Prime Time as Browns Face Steelers, Reflecting on Infamous 2019 Incident
Myles Garrett, the star defensive end for the Cleveland Browns, is set to face the Pittsburgh Steelers in a highly anticipated Thursday Night Football matchup. This game brings back memories of a contentious incident between Garrett and Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph that occurred on November 14, 2019.
During a Week 11 game, Garrett took down Rudolph as he released a pass, leading to a heated altercation. Garrett ripped off Rudolph’s helmet and swung it at him, an action that drew widespread condemnation and resulted in an indefinite suspension from the NFL. Garrett missed the final six games of the 2019 season but was reinstated during the offseason.
Garrett has since claimed that he swung the helmet in response to Rudolph using a racial slur, a claim that Rudolph has repeatedly denied. An NFL investigation found no evidence to support Garrett’s accusation.
Despite the fallout from the incident, Garrett has continued to excel on the field, earning four All-Pro honors and accumulating 95.5 career sacks. He is on the verge of becoming the 45th player in NFL history to surpass the 100-sack milestone.
Heading into the Week 12 matchup, Garrett has been cleared to play despite being listed on the injury report earlier in the week with a hip issue. He was a limited participant in practice but is expected to be full-go against the Steelers).
