NEW YORK – The NBA officially announced significant changes for the 74th All-Star Game, introducing a mini-tournament format and unveiling new uniforms inspired by San Francisco and Oakland. The event is set for Sunday, Feb. 16, at Chase Center, showcasing top NBA talent in a fresh and competitive spirit.

This year, the All-Star Game will operate as a mini-tournament featuring four teams: Team Chuck, Team Shaq, Team Kenny, and the Rising Stars champion, Team Candace. Each team will consist of eight players, selected during a live draft conducted by TNT analysts Charles Barkley, Shaquille O’Neal, and Kenny Smith.

The new format includes two semifinal matchups, with the winners of both games advancing to the championship. The first team to reach or surpass 40 points will win each game. This approach promises to deliver a more competitive edge, exciting for players and fans alike.

Kevin Hart, a celebrated comedian and NBA enthusiast, will serve as the on-court emcee, bringing his energy and humor to amplify the experience. Hart, who has a long-standing relationship with the league, expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating, “I’m excited to bring a new flavor to the game and connect with the fans.”

The 2025 All-Star Weekend also features a series of events leading up to the main game, initiating with the Rising Stars Challenge on Feb. 14, followed by the All-Star Celebrity Game. The NBA predicts a substantial boost in engagement through the new tournament format, with a prize pool of $1.8 million enticing competition among players.

Teams participating in the tournament will earn prizes, with championship players receiving $125,000 each. The second-place team will earn $50,000 each, while the third and fourth place will take home $25,000 each. The innovative structure and the chance to win significant cash prizes mark a new chapter in NBA All-Star history.

The uniforms, featuring vibrant colors reflecting the Bay Area culture, are designed with NIKE Dri-FIT ADV technology. The distinct looks will be worn across all All-Star events and available for purchase following the unveiling. This recognition of local culture emphasizes the NBA’s commitment to engaging with its diverse fanbase.
