Nba Trade Deadline 2025 Basketball Players

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. — With the NBA trade deadline just three weeks away, teams across the league are scrambling to make moves that could reshape their rosters for the remainder of the season. The Golden State Warriors, Milwaukee Bucks, and Phoenix Suns are among the franchises actively exploring trade opportunities, according to league sources.

The Warriors, led by franchise icon Stephen Curry, are seeking to balance their championship aspirations with long-term sustainability. Curry has emphasized the importance of avoiding “desperate” trades that could jeopardize the team’s future. “Anyone who thinks I’m OK being on an average basketball team is insane,” Curry said. “We’re trying to get better, make appropriate moves that help you do that.”

Golden State has reportedly inquired about several frontcourt players, including Nikola Vucevic, John Collins, Jonas Valanciunas, and Robert Williams. However, the team remains reluctant to part with young forward Jonathan Kuminga, who is currently sidelined with a sprained ankle. Kuminga, eligible for restricted free agency this summer, is seen as a key piece of the Warriors’ future.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Bucks are looking to shed salary to avoid the second apron luxury tax threshold. Pat Connaughton, a veteran guard, has emerged as a potential trade candidate. Moving Connaughton’s $9.42 million salary could provide the Bucks with more flexibility to improve their roster. The Detroit Pistons, with $14 million in cap space, are viewed as a logical destination for any salary dumps.

In Phoenix, the Suns are focused on maximizing their current roster to keep Kevin Durant happy and competitive. The team recently acquired Nick Richards from the Charlotte Hornets in exchange for Josh Okogie and draft picks. However, a larger trade involving Jusuf Nurkic fell through due to Charlotte’s reluctance to absorb Nurkic’s $19.38 million salary for the 2025-26 season.

The Suns continue to explore the trade market, with Jimmy Butler remaining their top target. However, Miami’s unwillingness to take on Bradley Beal’s hefty contract has complicated negotiations. Phoenix also has draft assets, including a 2025 second-round pick and a 2031 first-round pick, to use as trade bait.

As the deadline approaches, the Hornets are focused on acquiring future draft capital while developing their young core. Charlotte’s recent acquisition of Okogie provides financial flexibility, as his $7.75 million salary is non-guaranteed for the 2025-26 season.

With the trade deadline set for February 6, the next few weeks will be critical for teams looking to make a push for the playoffs or position themselves for future success.
