NBA Trade Rumors: Durant, Antetokounmpo, and Cavaliers Activity Heat Up

INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana — As the 2025 NBA playoffs continue between the Indiana Pacers and Oklahoma City Thunder, trade rumors are swirling for the offseason affecting the league’s 28 other teams.
This year’s NBA Draft is set for June 25 with the second round occurring the following day. July 1 marks the unofficial start of free agency, with deals becoming official on July 6. Right now, young players like Josh Giddey and Jonathan Kuminga are highly anticipated free agents.
Kevin Durant‘s trade has become one of the worst-kept secrets in the NBA. John Gambadoro, a long-time reporter, mentioned that Durant has brought up the San Antonio Spurs as a potential destination. “I know somebody who has been with Kevin Durant recently. And Kevin Durant and this person talked about the Spurs,” Gambadoro said.
Other teams in the mix for Durant include the Toronto Raptors, who are believed to have a more attainable route to acquiring him compared to Giannis Antetokounmpo. While the Phoenix Suns are also interested, they reportedly desire a lottery pick in exchange for Durant.
Meanwhile, speculation continues about whether Antetokounmpo will request a trade from the Milwaukee Bucks this summer. The question has lingered since Damian Lillard‘s injury limited playoff chances. The Bucks lack the capital to reinforce their team, especially with Antetokounmpo emphasizing his desire for championships.
Despite this, insider Jake Fischer suggests Antetokounmpo may opt to stay in Milwaukee for now. “Maybe Antetokounmpo believes the East will be open next year,” Fischer noted.
Additionally, the Cleveland Cavaliers, following a strong season with 64 wins, face their own challenges. With free agency looming for key players like Darius Garland, discussions about potential trades are rising. ESPN’s Brian Windhorst indicated that Garland may be available, stating, “I think the Cavs are listening and open minded.”
The Cavaliers are positioned for a strong run in the Eastern Conference, potentially contending with teams like the Pacers. Fans are eagerly watching as teams make critical decisions ahead of a pivotal offseason.
