OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — The path to the NCAA Division I Softball Championship will be revealed during the NCAA Selection Show this Sunday, May 11 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2. The selection committee will unveil the 64-team bracket, including the 16 regional hosts.
Fans will eagerly anticipate whether the reigning champions, Oklahoma, can secure their fifth consecutive title. Additionally, the tournament’s focus will be on how many teams from the Southeastern Conference (SEC) will make it to Oklahoma City for the Women’s College World Series.
During the show, the regional brackets will be determined, with each regional featuring four teams in a double-elimination format. The eight regional winners will advance to the super regionals, culminating in the Women’s College World Series scheduled from May 29 to June 6.
This year, the 16 regional hosts have been determined by the NCAA’s selection committee. Notable host teams include Texas A&M, Florida State, and Arkansas. Texas A&M earned the No. 1 seed, while Oklahoma and others vie for prime hosting positions.
Automatic bids will go to teams that won their conference tournaments, further shaping this year’s competition. Key programs that have secured their spots include Washington and Northwestern, among others.
The tournament will kick off with the regional rounds from May 16-18, where teams will compete for a chance to advance to the super regionals. The anticipation builds as teams and fans alike await the release of the bracket this Sunday.
