Bihar Election Results With Tejashwi Yadav

Patna, Bihar — As vote counting continues for the 2025 Bihar assembly elections, the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has taken a commanding lead. Early trends show the NDA, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, poised to win more than 150 of the 243 assembly seats.

Despite trailing overall, Tejashwi Yadav, head of the RJD and the Mahagathbandhan alliance, maintains a strong lead in his family stronghold of Raghopur. Tejashwi’s elder brother, Tej Pratap Yadav, who is now representing his own party, the Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD), is significantly behind in Mahua.

The Election Commission of India described this election as a “model election,” highlighting zero repolls and record voter turnout. Voter participation was noted at 67.13%, marking the highest in the state’s electoral history.

Security is tight at 46 counting centers throughout Bihar, with over 4,300 counting tables staffed by supervisors, micro-observers, and more than 18,000 counting agents. These measures, accompanied by Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) and constant CCTV surveillance, aim to ensure transparency during the counting process.

Tejashwi Yadav expressed confidence in his party’s performance but indicated readiness to contest any disruptions during counting, warning about the possibility of a “Nepal-like situation” should any irregularities arise. Conversely, BJP leaders accused the opposition of being desperate as they deal with disappointing results.

Initial results showed the NDA comfortably crossing the majority mark, with the Janata Dal (United) securing 75 seats and the Bharatiya Janata Party leading in 85. The Congress party has struggled to provide substantial support to the RJD, affecting Tejashwi’s chances of becoming Chief Minister.

The Election Commission also made an administrative change, replacing the returning officer for one constituency to enhance transparency following concerns raised by various parties.

Despite challenges, Nitish Kumar appears on track for another term, reinforcing his position as one of the state’s most enduring political figures. If current trends hold, this could be one of his most decisive victories yet as the NDA emerges as the clear favorite in the ongoing election count.
