LINCOLN, Neb. — Sophomore wide receiver Jaylen Lloyd, a key contributor to Nebraska‘s offense in 2024, has transferred to Oklahoma State, citing limited opportunities and a desire for a fresh start. Lloyd announced his decision to enter the transfer portal just before the new year and has since committed to the Cowboys for the 2025 season.

In an interview, Lloyd opened up about his decision, revealing the challenges he faced during his time with the Huskers. “I just didn’t get a lot of opportunity, and I felt like it wasn’t going to get any better,” Lloyd said. “I really like Dana [Holgorsen] and Daikiel [Shorts Jr.]. They are very good coaches, but at that point in the season, it was a little bit late. I was battling injuries, and then I had a sickness and couldn’t make an impression on them.”

Lloyd’s comments highlight the struggles he endured in 2024. Despite showing flashes of potential, he recorded just 13 receptions for 255 yards last season, bringing his two-year Nebraska career totals to 19 catches for 492 yards and three touchdowns. His departure follows a wave of transfers from the Huskers’ wide receiver room, including Isaiah Neyor and Malachi Coleman.

Nebraska has responded to the exodus by adding new talent, including wide receivers Dane Key and Hardley Gilmore IV from Kentucky, as well as Nyziah Hunter from California. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State gains a speedy playmaker in Lloyd, who hopes to make a bigger impact in Stillwater.

Lloyd’s transfer marks another chapter in the ever-evolving landscape of college football, where player movement through the transfer portal continues to reshape rosters across the country.
