Neil Warnock Reunites With Junior Hoilett As Aberdeen Make First Signing Of The Season

Neil Warnock, the manager of Aberdeen Football Club, has wasted no time in bolstering his squad by reuniting with experienced Canada international winger, Junior Hoilett, in what marks the Dons’ first signing of the season.

Hailing from Ontario, Hoilett brings with him a wealth of top-level football experience, having featured prominently in the English Premier League across six seasons. His journey began at the Blackburn Rovers Academy in 2003, leading to his professional debut for Rovers in 2007 after loan stints in Germany’s Bundesliga 2, where he showcased his talent with 14 goals in 67 starts.

The versatile left-sided player then made notable appearances for clubs like Queens Park Rangers and Cardiff City, bagging 25 goals and 22 assists in his 184 games for the Welsh side. Following stints with Reading, Hoilett returned to Canada to ply his trade with Vancouver Whitecaps in 2023.

Hoilett also made his mark on the international stage, representing Canada at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, where he made three appearances for his country. With 62 caps and 16 goals for his national team, Hoilett brings both skill and experience to his new club, Aberdeen.

The signing comes at a crucial time for Aberdeen, with Warnock previously highlighting the need to strengthen certain areas of the squad. Hoilett, who trained with Huddersfield Town last summer, expressed his excitement at joining the Dons, emphasizing his familiarity with Warnock’s coaching style and the prospect of contributing to the team’s success.

Warnock, delighted to secure Hoilett’s services, praised the winger’s talent and international pedigree, predicting a positive impact on the squad for the remainder of the season. The manager’s confidence in Hoilett’s abilities as a seasoned player reflects the club’s ambition to climb up the league standings.

Reflecting on his move, Hoilett affirmed his eagerness to return to competitive football under Warnock’s guidance, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to join Aberdeen and contribute to their objectives. With a desire to reignite his passion for the game, Hoilett is determined to make a significant impact and help propel the Dons forward in their upcoming fixtures.
