Brooklyn Nets Vs La Clippers Basketball Game

LOS ANGELES, Calif. — The Brooklyn Nets, fresh off a victory against the Portland Trail Blazers on Tuesday, will face the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday without several key players. The team announced that Cam Johnson and D'Angelo Russell will miss the second night of a back-to-back due to lingering injuries, while center Nic Claxton returns after sitting out Tuesday’s game with right hamstring tightness.

Claxton’s availability provides a boost for the Nets, who will rely on him and backup center Day'Ron Sharpe to anchor their frontcourt. However, the absence of Johnson (right ankle sprain) and Russell (right shin contusion and left hamstring tightness) leaves Brooklyn shorthanded against a strong Clippers squad.

Head coach Jordi Fernandez emphasized the team’s cautious approach with player health, particularly with the trade deadline looming. “We’re being smart with our guys,” Fernandez said. “It’s about keeping them healthy and ensuring they’re in the best position to contribute long-term.”

Ben Simmons, who has yet to play in both games of a back-to-back this season, will also sit out Wednesday. Fernandez clarified that Simmons’ absence is not injury-related but part of a broader strategy to manage his workload. “It’s about protecting him and making sure he’s ready for the long haul,” Fernandez added.

The Nets (14-26) face an uphill battle against the Clippers (21-17), who are among the top teams in the Western Conference. Brooklyn’s victory over Portland showcased their resilience, but the team’s depth will be tested as they navigate a challenging stretch of the season.
