New Episodes of The Last of Us Season 2 Scheduled for April Release

LOS ANGELES, CA — New episodes of the popular series The Last of Us season 2 are set to be released simultaneously in the US and the UK, beginning this month. The second season premiered on Sunday, April 13, at 9 p.m. PT/ET on HBO and Max, with the UK audience able to watch at 2 a.m. on Monday, April 14, on Sky Atlantic and streaming service NOW.
Fans have had mixed reactions to the unfolding events in the series, especially following a significant character’s shocking death in the second episode. Executive producer Craig Mazin acknowledged the controversy this plot point is likely to stir among viewers. “People are going to be upset,” Mazin said. “This was something that was always meant to happen.”
Pedro Pascal, who plays a lead role, was informed of the character’s limited duration in the storyline before he signed on for the project. “I wanted him to know that we’re not going to do this for seven seasons,” Mazin stated, referring to the character’s crucial development.
The third episode of The Last of Us season 2 is scheduled to air on Monday, April 28, at 2 a.m. BST in the UK, which translates to Sunday, April 27, at 9 p.m. EST, 8 p.m. CST, and 6 p.m. PST in the US. This season will consist of seven episodes, shorter than the previous season’s nine episodes.
Mazin explained the decision to reduce the number of episodes, noting the vast amount of source material from the game provided natural breakpoints in the storytelling. “Part of what we had to do from the start was figure out how to tell that story across seasons,” he added.
With episodes dropping weekly, fans can look forward to the ongoing suspense and drama in The Last of Us this season.
