Anguilla Beach And Bermudair Flights

ANGUILLA — The launch of a new nonstop flight from Boston to Anguilla is set to reshape the island’s tourism landscape. BermudAir inaugurated its route recently, providing travelers from the Northeast United States with direct access to the idyllic Caribbean destination.

Upon arriving on the inaugural flight, passengers were greeted with warm sunshine and a celebratory water-spray salute from fire trucks. Prime Minister Cora Richardson-Hodge emphasized the significance of this new service, stating, “For decades, the Northeast has been considered a breadbasket for tourism for the entire Caribbean, and especially for us. Our only direct service from the U.S. originated in Miami, Florida. So today we stand here with enormous pride.”

Anguilla, known for its stunning beaches and vibrant culinary scene, previously required travelers to fly to nearby St. Martin and take a ferry to reach the island. The addition of this new route simplifies travel, making it easier for tourists to discover Anguilla’s attractions.

The island hosted approximately 110,000 visitors in 2024, with many arriving as daytrippers. The new flights, along with the recent opening of a modern airport terminal, are expected to significantly increase tourism numbers.

Despite its growing accessibility, the charm of Anguilla remains intact. It boasts 33 pristine beaches and is recognized as one of the best culinary destinations in the Caribbean. Travelers can enjoy local flavors at beachside restaurants, known for dishes like barbecued chicken and fresh seafood.

Visitors to Anguilla can also partake in various activities, from snorkeling along its crystal-clear shores to enjoying rum punch at local beach clubs. Travelers may find that renting a car is beneficial, as taxis can be expensive and limited.

This influx of tourists may raise concerns about preserving the island’s tranquility, but the controlled number of flights and the island’s nature promise a peaceful retreat. Anguilla continues to be known for its quiet charm, attracting those who appreciate luxury without the fuss.

As Anguilla prepares for a potential surge in visitors, locals hope to balance increased tourism with the desire to maintain the island’s unique and serene atmosphere.
