Wright took on the Black Panther mantle following the passing of Chadwick Boseman in 2020.

Wright recently expressed her enthusiasm for continuing her character’s journey. During an appearance on The View in June 2024, she stated, “I would like to continue with Shuri. She’s one of my favorite characters.” When asked about the film’s future, she smiled and said, “There’s a lot coming up.”

Photos showed Idris in a black suit alongside Bassett, sparking rumors that he could portray a new T’Challa or Prince Toussaint, a character introduced in Wakanda Forever.

A viral caption stating “yeah that’s T’Challa” attracted over 1.5 million views, further fueling the speculation. In a previous interview, when asked about becoming the next Black Panther, Idris humorously replied, “Yes-no!” while expressing interest in the role if offered.
