New York Knicks Street Signs

NEW YORK, NY — New Yorkers have a new way to show their support for the Knicks during their playoff run. On Wednesday, Mayor Eric Adams and Transportation Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez announced that several streets in Manhattan will be temporarily co-named after current New York Knicks players.

This initiative aims to celebrate the Knicks’ surprising journey to the Eastern Conference Finals. “The Knicks embody the spirit of New York — resilient, passionate, and unstoppable,” Adams stated. “Nearly 8.5 million New Yorkers, and millions more, are behind the New York Knicks as they continue this incredible journey.”

The co-named streets include Jalen Brunson Boulevard at West 11th Street and 7th Avenue, and Karl-Anthony Towns Square at West 32nd Street and 7th Avenue, which is right outside Madison Square Garden. This maneuver is designed to rally the city behind the team as they prepare to host Game 1 against the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night.

Adams emphasized the importance of recognizing the hard work and determination that has brought the Knicks to this point. The new street signs, adorned with the team’s blue and orange colors, will remain in place as long as the Knicks are alive in the playoffs.

This marks the Knicks’ first appearance in the Eastern Conference Finals since the 1999-2000 season. They last hosted a conference finals game on June 2, 2000. The team celebrated their advancement to the finals after clinching a series win against the Boston Celtics.

DOT Commissioner Rodriguez added, “The New York Knicks are part of the fabric of our city, and have the best fans in the NBA. The entire city has your back as the Eastern Conference Finals are underway.” If the Knicks advance, they will face the winner of the Western Conference Finals between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
