New York Jets Face Minnesota Vikings in London Showdown
The New York Jets are set to face the Minnesota Vikings in a highly anticipated matchup at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London this Sunday. The game will kick off at 2:30 p.m. local time, equivalent to 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time back in the United States.
Both teams are no strangers to international play, with the Jets making their third appearance in London. They have a mixed record in the UK, having previously defeated the Miami Dolphins in 2015 and losing to the Atlanta Falcons in 2021. Meanwhile, the Vikings boast an unbeaten 3-0 record in London games, highlighting their active participation in the NFL’s Global Markets Program.
The Jets, currently holding a 2-2 record, are keen to bounce back after a narrow 10-9 loss to the Denver Broncos. They will face a formidable opponent in the Vikings, who are one of the two remaining undefeated teams this season, with a 4-0 standing.
A significant storyline revolves around the quarterbacks. Aaron Rodgers of the Jets is on the cusp of reaching two career milestones. Rodgers requires 96 yards to achieve 60,000 regular-season passing yards and 74 more to surpass Dan Marino’s combined regular season and playoff yardage record. With one significant completion, Rodgers could potentially reach both landmarks in the first half of Sunday’s game.
Rodgers will be facing off against Sam Darnold, the Jets’ former first-round draft pick from 2018, now a standout with the Vikings. Darnold has excelled this season, throwing 11 touchdown passes in four starts and leading NFL quarterbacks with a 118.9 passer rating.
There are numerous connections between these teams. Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell was briefly on the Jets’ roster during the 2009-2011 seasons. The Vikings’ coaching staff also includes Mike Pettine and Josh McCown, both of whom have histories with the Jets.
On the players’ side, Blake Cashman, Dan Feeney, and Brett Rypien have Jets backgrounds, while Tyler Conklin, Chazz Surratt, and Jalyn Holmes have ties to the Vikings.
Conspicuously absent from the Jets’ roster will be two key players. C.J. Mosley, their middle linebacker and defensive captain, is listed as doubtful due to a toe injury and has been deactivated for three consecutive games. Meanwhile, right tackle Morgan Moses will miss his second game due to a knee injury, giving rookie Olu Fashanu the chance to start again.
