Newcastle United Vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Premier League Match

NEWCASTLE, England — Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has warned his team not to lose focus as they prepare to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in a crucial Premier League match on Wednesday night. The Magpies are riding an eight-game winning streak across all competitions, including a recent 3-1 victory over Bromley in the FA Cup.

Howe emphasized the importance of maintaining their momentum, calling the upcoming match a “dangerous game” against a Wolves side that has shown resilience under new manager Vítor Pereira. “We can’t take our eye off the ball,” Howe said during his pre-match press conference in Benton on Tuesday. “The Premier League is an unforgiving league.”

Newcastle’s recent form has propelled them to fifth in the Premier League, with a win against Wolves potentially lifting them to fourth. The team has also advanced to the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup and the fourth round of the FA Cup, where they will face League One leaders Birmingham City.

Howe made nine changes to his lineup for the FA Cup match against Bromley, resting key players ahead of the Wolves clash. He confirmed that most of those players are expected to return, though winger Harvey Barnes will miss several weeks due to a thigh injury sustained during the Bromley game. “It’s not a serious injury, but it will keep him out for a few weeks,” Howe said.

Wolves, meanwhile, have shown improvement under Pereira, securing seven points from their last three Premier League matches before a 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest. Howe praised Pereira’s impact, noting Wolves’ “brave way of playing” and their dangerous attacking options. “They’ve got some very good players, especially in the front line,” he said.

The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. GMT at St. James' Park, with Newcastle looking to extend their winning run and solidify their position in the top four. Wolves, currently battling to stay clear of the relegation zone, will aim to disrupt Newcastle’s momentum and secure valuable points.
