Nick Chubb Cleveland Browns Injury Update

Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb will not make his 2024 debut in Week 6, as he has been officially ruled out for the team’s matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. Chubb, who has been recovering from a severe knee injury suffered in Week 2 of the 2023 season, began practicing with the team last week but is not yet ready for game action.

Along with Chubb, several other key players will also miss the game. Safeties Grant Delpit and Ronnie Hickman, center Ethan Pocic, tackle James Hudson III, and running back Nyheim Hines have all been ruled out due to various injuries. Delpit is in the concussion protocol, Pocic has a knee injury, Hickman has an ankle injury, Hudson III has a shoulder injury, and Hines is dealing with a knee issue.

The Browns’ defense will be particularly impacted by the absence of Delpit and Hickman, with veteran Rodney McLeod and D’Anthony Bell set to fill in at safety. Additionally, cornerback Denzel Ward, who missed practice earlier in the week with a hamstring injury, is listed as questionable for the game.

Despite these setbacks, there is some positive news for the Browns. Tackle Jack Conklin is set to be active for Sunday’s game, and rookie defensive tackle Michael Hall Jr. will also return after serving his suspension. However, the team must decide on Chubb’s status by October 23; if he is not activated by then, he will have to miss the entire 2024 season.

Chubb’s injury, which included tears of both his anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament, as well as a torn meniscus and a medial capsule requiring repair, has kept him sidelined for over a year. His return is highly anticipated, but the Browns are taking a cautious approach to ensure he is fully ready for game action.
