Nikhat Zareen, an ambitious Indian boxer from Telangana, has made it to the women’s 50kg pre-quarterfinals at the Olympics after a spirited win against Germany’s Maxi Carina Kloetzer.

In a match that kept everyone on the edge of their seats, Zareen found herself trailing on three judges’ scorecards after the first round. However, the determined 28-year-old didn’t let that stop her. She fought back hard and closed out the bout with a solid 5-0 unanimous decision win.

It was Zareen’s Olympic debut, and she was facing tough competition, but her experience shone through. Despite Kloetzer’s aggressive approach, Zareen’s skillful footwork and striking led her to regain control in the center of the ring.

Looking ahead, Zareen’s next challenge is monumental as she prepares to face Wu Yu from China. Wu is not only the top seed in this category but also a world champion and Asian Games gold medalist.

Nikhat Zareen has been paving her way in boxing for years now. Born in Nizamabad, Telangana, Zareen has achieved a lot, including a gold medal at the AIBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in 2019 held in Ulan-Ude, Russia, making her one of the top female boxers globally.

Her outstanding achievements have brought pride to India, and she is seen as a role model, especially inspiring young female athletes to take up boxing and pursue their dreams.
