In a captivating moment during the second Test between Pakistan and England taking place in Multan, Pakistan’s Noman Ali delighted cricket fans with a spectacular batting display reminiscent of West Indian cricket legend Brian Lara. Noman’s stylish on-field performance included a perfectly timed flick, drawing praise and amusement from his teammate Salman Agha.

After contributing a crucial 32 in Pakistan’s first innings total of 366, Noman Ali was out cheaply in the second innings, only scoring a single run. However, his well-executed flick off a fuller-length delivery from England’s captain Ben Stokes caught the attention of many. Salman Agha, who was at the non-striker’s end at the time, humorously questioned Noman about his masterful shot. According to a stump mic capture, Salman asked, “Did you hit it deliberately?” to which Noman confidently responded, “Yes, I just flicked it like Lara,” referring to the cricketing prowess associated with Brian Lara.

The match itself has been a gripping contest, with Pakistan setting England a challenging target of 297 after being all out for 221 in their second innings. England’s Shoaib Bashir was instrumental with the ball, taking four wickets, while Jack Leach and Brydon Carse contributed with two wickets each.

As the chase began, Pakistan’s spinners once again demonstrated their effectiveness, leaving England at a precarious 36-2 by the end of day three. Sajid Khan made an immediate impact by claiming the wicket of Ben Duckett, who had previously impressed with a century in the first innings. Zak Crawley was the next to fall, caught out by Noman Ali for three runs, leaving Ollie Pope and Joe Root battling to stabilize England’s innings.

Noman Ali spoke about the challenging conditions on the pitch after the day’s play, stating, “We are getting good spin from the rough patches as well as from the middle, so it will be a tough chase and we will do everything to win this Test.” Despite the difficult situation, England’s assistant coach remains optimistic, encouraging his team to attempt “special things” in pursuit of their target.
