Avowed Role Playing Game Early Access Release

REDMOND, Wash. — Obsidian Entertainment has announced that early access for its highly anticipated role-playing game, Avowed, will begin on February 13, 2025, at 10 a.m. PST. This early access is exclusively available to players who purchased the Avowed Premium Edition, which also includes bonuses like premium skin packs and a soundtrack.

The standard version of Avowed will officially launch five days later on February 18, 2025, and players will be able to access it on both Xbox Series X/S and PC platforms. The game will be included in Xbox Game Pass on launch day, making it readily available to subscribers.

According to Obsidian, the early access launch translates to 1 p.m. EST for U.S. East Coast players and 6 p.m. GMT for players in the UK. Internationally, the game will debut at 3 a.m. in Tokyo, 5 a.m. in Sydney, and 7 a.m. in Auckland on February 14.

Avowed is set in the same universe as the critically acclaimed Pillars of Eternity series. Described as a first-person fantasy RPG, it emphasizes player choice and features a rich narrative filled with stories of war, mystery, and intrigue. The game promises an expansive world where players can forge alliances or rivalries.

Game director Carrie Patel previously indicated that Avowed aims for varying frame rates, stating, “You can get up to [60 fps]” on the more powerful Microsoft consoles. However, the performance for the PC version remains unconfirmed as of now.

The Premium Edition of Avowed is available for $94.99, while those seeking early access can opt for a $24.99 Premium Upgrade through Xbox Game Pass. Players who wish to preload the game are strongly encouraged to do so to ensure a seamless experience upon its release.

The official Xbox Store and Steam listings confirm the launch date as February 18, 2025, with users advised to check for availability at midnight on the 13th. However, it’s noted that the PC version may not be available until the console version goes live.

As players prepare for the launch, excitement is building around the gameplay mechanics and story depth of Avowed, which showcases Obsidian’s signature style of engaging dialogue and player autonomy. “Avowed is just a lot of fun,” Wesley Yin-Poole, UK News Editor for IGN, remarked, praising the game’s anticipated nuanced conversations and gameplay freedom.
