Ohio State Basketball Transfer Portal News

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Sean Stewart, a forward who started 30 games for the Ohio State Buckeyes during the 2024-25 season, has entered the transfer portal, confirmed by an Ohio State spokesperson on April 22, 2025.

Stewart’s decision comes just hours before the portal officially closes at midnight on Wednesday. Players are required to notify their teams of their transfer intentions by the deadline, but they are not bound to choose a new team by then.

Originally a five-star prospect from the 2023 recruiting class, Stewart transferred to Ohio State from Duke before the 2024-25 season. He averaged 5.7 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 0.9 blocks per game as a sophomore with the Buckeyes. Despite being recognized for his rebounding and defensive skills, Stewart struggled with foul trouble, averaging 3.4 fouls per game and fouling out of seven games.

Additionally, Aaron Bradshaw, another five-star recruit who transferred from Kentucky, left Ohio State earlier this month. Following their departures, guards Micah Parrish and Ques Glover, who were part of the same transfer class, are also no longer with the team.

In light of Stewart’s exit, Ohio State aims to acquire at least two more players from the transfer portal. The Buckeyes have already brought in Gabe Cupps, Christoph Tilly, and Brandon Noel from the portal to enhance their roster.

With Stewart’s departure, Tilly is expected to step into the starting center role for the upcoming season alongside returnee Ivan Njegovan and incoming freshman A’mare Bynum.
