Oklahoma Tennessee Women's College World Series

Oklahoma City, OK – The national semifinals of the Women’s College World Series are set after No. 2 Oklahoma and No. 7 Tennessee avoided elimination on Sunday. The four-time defending champion Sooners secured their spot by defeating No. 16 Oregon, thanks to a pair of home runs from Cydney Sanders at Devon Park.

Oklahoma will face No. 12 Texas Tech on Monday. They need to win back-to-back games to reach the championship series. Following the win, Sanders remarked, “We have our eyes set on the title and will give it our all.”

Meanwhile, Tennessee’s game against No. 9 UCLA was a nail-biter that required extra innings. The Lady Vols triumphed 5-4 after a controversial play that saw the Bruins’ Megan Grant tie the game in the seventh with a two-run homer. However, replay evidence showed Grant missed home plate, and the call was deemed non-reviewable by officials after nearly 15 minutes of discussion. The Vols sealed the win in the ninth with a bases-loaded single from Laura Mealer.

Tennessee must beat No. 6 Texas twice on Monday for a shot at their first championship series since 2013. Coach Karen Weekly expressed her pride in the team’s grit, saying, “We always fight until the last out.”

The Women’s College World Series uses a double-elimination format, and teams compete for a spot in the best-of-three championship series. The upcoming matches are crucial for all teams involved. Fans can watch every game live on fubo. Notable past games include No. 6 Texas defeating No. 3 Florida, and Oklahoma’s earlier win over Tennessee.

As the tournament progresses, the excitement builds. The next game for Tennessee is set for noon on Monday, where they will need to bring their best game against Texas.
