LOS ANGELES, CA — Journalist Olivia Nuzzi is opening up about her controversial affair with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in her upcoming book, “American Canto,” set to be released on December 2. The revelations come after Nuzzi spent a year in self-exile following the fallout from their digital romance.

The relationship reportedly began after Nuzzi, 32, interviewed Kennedy for a New York magazine article in late 2023. According to Nuzzi, he was affectionate, calling her ‘Livvy’ and expressing his deep feelings, including saying he would take a bullet for her. Despite the intensity of their connection, she insists their relationship never became physical.

In an interview with The New York Times, Nuzzi described how their bond grew amid the political chaos surrounding Kennedy’s 2024 presidential campaign. “I love him, I thought. Oh no. I love him so much,” she wrote about her feelings towards him. The nearly 40-year age difference did not deter her, as she admired various aspects of him, including his looks and sensitivities.

However, as news of their connection made headlines in September 2024, Nuzzi faced significant personal and professional repercussions. Following the revelation, she was fired from her position at New York Magazine and had her engagement with fellow journalist Ryan Lizza end publicly as their relationship unraveled.

Nuzzi’s book delves deeply into her experiences within what she calls “Trumpworld,” providing her perspective on the tumultuous political landscape. She has expressed regret over how their affair impacted her career, stating, “I deeply regret not disclosing the relationship sooner to prevent the appearance of a conflict.”

Despite the scandal, Kennedy’s wife, actress Cheryl Hines, has remained by his side, frequently appearing in public with him. Nuzzi, now the West Coast editor for Vanity Fair, appears ready to share her side of the story, promising a detailed account of her complex relationship with Kennedy in her forthcoming memoir.
