Oregon Ducks Prepare for Super Regional Showdown Against Liberty

EUGENE, Oregon — The Oregon Ducks women’s softball team is gearing up for a pivotal Super Regional series at home against Liberty, scheduled for May 23-25 at Jane Sanders Stadium.
The Ducks, who are currently 51-8, are looking to elevate their season by reaching the Women’s College World Series. After a challenging double-elimination regional tournament last weekend, where they faced a loss to Stanford, Oregon secured their spot with three consecutive victories.
“This whole year we’ve been talking one pitch at a time and that still stays the same going into this weekend,” said senior shortstop Paige Sinicki.
Despite their earlier setback, Oregon fought back with impressive wins against Weber State and Stanford, culminating in a dramatic 10-7 victory where Dez Patmon hit a walk-off three-run homer.
The upcoming series will see Oregon take on Liberty, which has made a name for itself by defeating top-seeded Texas A&M, marking their first Super Regional appearance in program history.
“This team is united. They’re excited to get to play at home again,” said Oregon coach Melyssa Lombardi. “Winning the Big Ten and hosting regionals were our goals, and we can’t wait to get started.”
Liberty’s journey has been notable, with a strong performance at the College Station Regional where they battled through elimination games to emerge victorious.
“I’m so humbled and yet hungered to keep going,” remarked Liberty coach Dot Richardson.
Among the players to watch for Liberty is Paige Doerr, a former Oregon State standout, who has found success in the Flames lineup, hitting .348 with 30 RBIs. Another crucial player is Rachel Roupe, the Conference USA player of the year, batting .392 with 73 RBIs and 23 home runs.
As the series approaches, both teams are focused and ready to compete, with a shared message underscored by Paige Sinicki: “It’s a respect all fear none mindset.”
