Pacers Re-Sign Jeremiah Robinson-Earl to Second 10-Day Contract
INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Pacers have re-signed forward Jeremiah Robinson-Earl to a second 10-day contract, the team announced Tuesday evening.
This move comes as the Pacers continue to face a multitude of injuries. The franchise was granted a hardship exception, allowing them to sign Robinson-Earl once again following the expiration of his previous deal on Monday. This is his second 10-day contract with the team this season.
Robinson-Earl, who joined the Pacers via the hardship exception on November 1, has appeared in five games, averaging 5.2 points and 6.8 rebounds in just over 17 minutes per game. Despite struggling with his shooting, converting only 32.3% of his field goal attempts, he has made significant contributions in rebounding and defensive efforts.
The Pacers are currently missing key players including Tyrese Haliburton, Johnny Furphy, Obi Toppin, Quenton Jackson (two-way), and Bennedict Mathurin due to injuries. T.J. McConnell has not played this season but is anticipated to return soon.
The NBA allows teams to apply for hardship exceptions when they have four players who have missed three consecutive games. Robinson-Earl’s contract will run through November 20 and will pay him $141,463, with a cap hit of nearly $132,000.
Robinson-Earl expressed his focus on adapting quickly to the team’s needs amid the ongoing injuries. “We have a system, we have schemes, concepts, things that we want to do. But at the end of the day, it’s basketball,” he said. “You can’t make excuses. You’ve got to learn on the fly.”
The Pacers, currently 1-8, hope to get healthier soon as they face off against the Utah Jazz tonight.
