Pearl Jam Announces Additional Tour Dates In Melbourne And Auckland With Pixies As Special Guests

Seattle-based rock icons Pearl Jam recently revealed two new dates for their much-anticipated 2024 tour, much to the delight of their global fanbase.

The demand surged following the announcement of the band’s upcoming twelfth studio album, ‘Dark Matter‘.

With over 40,000 eager fans flocking to Ticketmaster on Friday morning to secure their tickets, Live Nation responded by adding new tour dates in Melbourne on Monday, November 18, and in Auckland on Saturday, November 23.

Pearl Jam, known for their influential presence in the 90s grunge scene, is set to make a triumphant return to the live stage after a decade-long hiatus from their last Australian performance at the final Big Day Out festival in 2014.

The band’s extensive tour will span nine countries and 25 cities, commencing at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia, in May.

The Australian and New Zealand leg of the tour will kick off in Auckland on November 8, followed by stops in Gold Coast on November 13, Melbourne on November 16 and the newly announced shows in Melbourne on November 18 and Sydney on November 21.

The absence of an Adelaide date has fueled speculation that Pearl Jam might headline this year’s VAILO 500 After-Race Concert.

Joining Pearl Jam on their Australian tour are the legendary Boston indie rock band Pixies, marking their return after more than 20 years since their last visit to Australia.

‘Dark Matter’, Pearl Jam’s highly anticipated album, is slated to drop on April 19, 2024, under Monkeywrench Records/Republic Records.

True to the band’s signature style, the album promises to showcase a blend of raw intensity and exploration of new sounds.

With tracks like ‘Scared of Fear’, ‘Wreckage’, ‘Running’, and the lead single ‘Dark Matter’, Pearl Jam is staying true to their roots while pushing creative boundaries.

The album was crafted at Shangri-La Studios in Malibu last year, where the band reconnected and recorded the album within a three-week timeframe.

Reflecting on the new album, lead vocalist Eddie Vedder expressed his excitement, stating, ‘This is our best work yet, no hyperbole. We care about putting out something meaningful, and we believe this album embodies that.’
