BJ Penn Claims Family Murdered; Fans Urge Mental Health Support

HILO, Hawaii — UFC Hall of Famer BJ Penn has sparked concern among fans after posting a disturbing video on Instagram, where he alleges his mother and brothers were murdered and replaced by imposters. In the video, posted this week, Penn claims to have contacted the Hilo Police Department to investigate the matter.
Penn, known for his successful MMA career, accused unnamed individuals residing in his home of being clones. He specifically named his mother, Lorraine Shin, and brothers Jay Dee Penn, Reagan Penn, and Kalani Mamazuka in the disturbing allegations.
In the video, Penn cited physical discrepancies as evidence, sharing a side-by-side photo comparing the ears of his brother and mother. “Look at their ears. Look at the freckles. I want DNA tests,” he demanded. He urged local authorities to remove what he claims are imposters from his residence.
His accusations, however, have raised more alarms than questions, as fans and commentators have dismissed his claims, interpreting them as signs of a mental health crisis. “These guys aren’t my real family,” he said, expressing urgency in addressing the situation. “If I harm any of these people that are acting like my mom or my brothers, I go to jail and lose everything.”
In his plea for help, Penn also expressed frustration and hinted at violence, stating, “If they harm me, nothing will happen to them and I lose everything.” He further implored law enforcement, reflecting on his multiple black belts, “Are you guys gonna help me? Are we going to help Jd and Reagan and my mother and look for them?”
The mixed martial arts community quickly reacted to the video, with many expressing deep concern for Penn’s mental health. Comments flooded in, with fans urging him to seek help. “Please BJ, get help. This isn’t normal,” wrote one follower. Another stated, “This is painful to watch. Someone close to him needs to step in.”
This isn’t the first time that Penn has made such alarming claims. Just last month, Penn shared another troubling post, leading to similar concerns about his state of mind. Since his retirement from MMA, he has faced a series of personal and legal issues, which have drawn scrutiny over his increasingly erratic behavior.
Despite the looming questions, neither the Hilo Police Department nor Penn’s family has issued a response to his latest allegations. The video remains accessible on his Instagram profile, and as it circulates, worried fans continue to call for intervention.
