Phil Foden: The Fishing Football Star
England midfielder and Euros 2024 standout, Phil Foden, is not your typical football star when it comes to hobbies. While many players opt for glamorous getaways, Foden’s passion lies in a more serene activity – fishing.
Known for his skills on the football pitch, 24-year-old Foden has a deep love for fishing, a pastime that he picked up from his father during his childhood. He once missed Manchester City‘s Premier League title celebrations in 2018 for a pre-planned fishing trip with his dad.
In a recent interview, Foden expressed that fishing sets him apart from his fellow footballers, as it offers him a unique opportunity to relax and unwind amidst nature, something that only a small percentage of his peers appreciate.
At the age of six, Foden reeled in a 130lb Catfish, marking a significant milestone in his fishing journey. Now, he frequents fishing spots across the UK and occasionally in Spain, always accompanied by his father, whom he cherishes spending quality time with.
Aside from his angling escapades, Foden is a devoted family man. He shares three children with his long-time girlfriend, Rebecca Cooke, including a newborn son named Ronnie, whose recent birth prompted Foden to briefly leave the England camp during the Euro tournament.
Foden and Cooke reportedly met as teenagers and have since built a life together in Prestbury, prioritizing their family while Foden navigates his successful football career.
The football star has spoken openly about the joys of fatherhood, emphasizing how each child’s arrival has brought significant changes to his life, with moments like witnessing Ronnie‘s birth being particularly poignant for him.
