Pitt Greenville Airport Plane Crash Scene

GREENVILLE, N.C. — A single-engine plane crashed this morning near Pitt-Greenville Airport, prompting emergency responders to close off several roads in the vicinity. The incident occurred on March 14, 2025, and has resulted in traffic disruptions as crews respond to the scene.

Bill Hopper, Executive Director of Pitt-Greenville Airport, confirmed that the crash took place off airport property. Local authorities, including the Greenville Police Department, reported that the accident happened in the area of N. Memorial Drive and Belvoir Road.

“We are providing scene control of a private plane crash in that area,” said Kristen Hunter, a spokesperson for the Greenville Police Department. “N. Memorial Drive will be closed for the remainder of the day while we manage the situation and await further investigation from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).”

Traffic has been diverted from West Belvoir Road and the entrance to the airport along Memorial Drive, limiting access for commuters and emergency vehicles. Authorities are advising the public to avoid the area until further notice.

The nature of the incident is still under investigation, and additional details about the plane and any potential passengers or crew have not yet been released.

This is a developing story, and local news outlets including News12 are providing ongoing updates. Residents are encouraged to stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
