Jillian Lauren Shooting Incident Police Video

LOS ANGELES, California — The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) released video on Friday from a shooting involving author Jillian Lauren, who is the wife of Weezer bassist Scott Shriner. The incident occurred earlier this month when Lauren mistakenly believed police officers were armed suspects pursuing her.

On April 8, LAPD officers were assisting the California Highway Patrol in tracking three suspects wanted in a hit-and-run case when they encountered Lauren in her backyard holding a gun. The video shows a chaotic scene where officers are visible attempting to communicate with Lauren as she moved about her property.

Officers can be heard repeatedly shouting at Lauren, asking her to drop the gun. Their voices were obscured by the sound of a helicopter hovering above the scene. A neighbor’s 911 call revealed that Lauren believed she was under attack, as she misunderstood the officers’ intentions.

“There were three men, and one of them shot her, and the cops are looking for him right now,” the neighbor told the operator during the call. “They have their guns out,” the caller added.

According to LAPD reports, video footage from body cameras and surveillance showed that Lauren chambered a round before officers fired at her. Police stated that no officers were injured during the incident, but Lauren was seriously wounded in the shoulder and required hospitalization.

After being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, Lauren was booked on suspicion of attempted murder of a police officer and later released on bail. She is set to appear in court on April 30. It remains unclear whether the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office will move forward with charges.

LAPD officials emphasized that evidence gathered, including a 9mm Glock handgun found at the scene and a spent shell casing, indicated that Lauren had pointed her weapon at the officers before they discharged their firearms.

This event has drawn media attention not only because of Lauren’s celebrity but also due to discussions about the justification for her actions in defense of her home. A spokesperson for the LAPD highlighted the agency’s commitment to transparency, asserting that they would continue to cooperate with any ongoing investigations.

Lauren’s literary works include the memoirs “Some Girls: My Life in a Harem” and “Behold the Monster: Facing America’s Most Prolific Serial Killer.” At this time, she has yet to provide a public response to the released footage or the circumstances surrounding her shooting.
