Postponement of Bhagat Singh Statue Unveiling at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport
The planned unveiling of a 30-foot-tall statue of Bhagat Singh at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport has been postponed. The decision comes in light of the implementation of a model code of conduct due to the ongoing panchayat elections. Initially, this significant event was scheduled to take place on September 28, coinciding with the birth anniversary of the renowned freedom fighter.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was slated to dedicate the statue during a ceremony intended to honor the legacy of Bhagat Singh. Mann had previously articulated the importance of the statue as a symbolic gesture to preserve the illustrious heritage of the young martyr. He emphasized that the statue would serve as a reminder to passengers from various regions, including Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir, of Bhagat Singh’s enduring sacrifice.
Bhagat Singh is remembered not only for his youthful bravery and commitment to the fight for India’s independence but also for his philosophical contributions to socialism and social justice. His influence extends beyond his death, inspiring generations with his ideas and actions.
