PowerA Launches Wired Controller Ahead of Switch 2 Release

Redmond, WA – PowerA has introduced its first gamepad for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, revealing a wired model featuring Hall effect joysticks. Priced at $39.99, this controller will be available starting June 9th. Unlike other models, it lacks rumble and motion controls, and does not support Amiibo.
The announcement comes just two weeks before the official launch of the Switch 2, generating excitement among gamers. PowerA’s controller is seen as a competitive offering, particularly against a more expensive model from another manufacturer, which retails for $49.99.
As the launch date approaches, anticipation builds for announcements from other major accessories makers such as 8BitDo and GameSir. Many industry insiders expect a flurry of product reveals in the coming days as companies strive to capture the growing market surrounding the new console.
In related news, GameStop has confirmed that it will offer additional stock of the Switch 2 in both its retail stores and online when the console launches next month. In-store events are set to kick off at 3 PM local time on June 4, with console pickups beginning at midnight EST on June 5.
Online orders for the Switch 2 will also commence at the same time. GameStop’s spokesperson, Nicolle Robles, stated that pre-orders for the console had sold out shortly after they opened on April 24. Retail giant Best Buy indicated that most locations would have extra consoles available on launch day as well.
Gamers who signed up for exclusives through various channels are being encouraged to check their emails, as invitations to purchase have been sent out since May 8. With the growing interest in the Switch 2, a busy launch weekend is anticipated.
