Powerball Jackpot Soars to Estimated $272 Million Amid Ongoing Drawings

INDIANAPOLIS, IN — The Powerball jackpot continues its upward trajectory, now estimated at $272 million with a cash option of $128.2 million for the drawing scheduled on March 1, 2025. No tickets matched all six numbers from the last drawing, increasing the prize for hopeful players.

The winning numbers from the most recent drawing on February 28, 2025, were 2, 23, 36, 44, 49, and the Powerball was 25. The Power Play multiplier was 3X. According to lottery officials, ticket sales are brisk as players seek a chance at becoming the next millionaire.

“The excitement is palpable when the jackpot climbs this high. Ticket sales tend to increase significantly as players think about how their lives could change overnight,” said a representative from the Indiana Lottery.

Powerball drawings occur three times weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays at approximately 10:59 p.m. ET. Players can purchase tickets online or at retail locations until the designated cut-off times, which vary by state. In New York, for example, ticket sales close at 10 p.m. on the night of the draw.

“We encourage players to check their tickets carefully, as even matching just the Powerball number can offer a prize,” the Indiana Lottery representative added. A ticket that matches only the Powerball wins $4, while a ticket matching one of the five numbers plus the Powerball can also carry a $4 prize.

The jackpot had not been won since January 18, 2025, when a lone ticket in Oregon won $328.5 million. As the current drawing approaches, many are left wondering if they will be lucky enough to hit the jackpot.

Meanwhile, the Mega Millions jackpot is also substantial, currently at $215 million, with a cash option of $100.9 million for its drawing on March 4, 2025. The winning numbers from the latest Mega Millions drawing were 9, 19, 30, 35, 66, and the Mega Ball was 16.

“With two major jackpots in play, the chances of winning are drawing more attention than ever. It’s a great time for players to pick their lucky numbers,” said the lottery spokesperson.

The odds of winning the Powerball jackpot are approximately 1 in 292.2 million. Interested players can increase their potential prizes by adding the Power Play option for an additional $1, which can multiply non-jackpot winnings by up to five times, with a possibility of a 10X multiplier when the jackpot is below $150 million.
