The Poly-Jeunesse Secondary School, situated in the Fabreville sector of Laval, experienced a precautionary lockdown on Wednesday morning. The incident occurred following the reception of a threatening phone call directed towards the school.

The Laval Police Service (SPL) confirmed receiving a 911 call at approximately 8:52 AM on Wednesday with threatening remarks made against the school. Erika Landry, a spokesperson for the SPL, clarified, “There is absolutely no indication of an active shooter.” In response, the Laval School Service Centre implemented a preventive barricaded lockdown, adhering to protocol in such circumstances.

Law enforcement officers from the SPL were present at the scene throughout the morning, conducting various checks. In a communication addressed to parents, a copy of which was obtained by Noovo Info, the Laval School Service Centre sought to reassure the community. “The preventive barricaded lockdown must be maintained for now, and we appreciate your patience,” read the note, signed by the school administration. “A police team is currently deployed at the school to conduct necessary inspections to ensure the school’s safety. We will not compromise on safety,” it added.

Parents of students attending Poly-Jeunesse were advised to remain calm if they hadn’t heard from their children, as per lockdown procedure, students are asked to refrain from using their cell phones for safety reasons. The school service centre assured parents that updates regarding the situation would be provided, and they would be notified once the lockdown is lifted.

The Centre de services scolaire de Laval also requested that parents refrain from coming to the school. “This allows for the smooth execution of operations at the school,” the communication stated.
