Princeton Women’s Basketball Secures Thrilling 78-75 Win Over Seton Hall
The Princeton Women’s Basketball Team achieved a thrilling 78-75 victory over the Seton Hall Pirates on Thursday evening at Walsh Gym in South Orange. The Tigers shot an impressive 62 percent from the floor, marking one of their best shooting performances in recent years.
Skye Belker led the team with a career-high 21 points and a personal-best six assists. Tabitha Amanze also set a new career mark with 12 points on 4-of-6 shooting. Other notable performances came from Ashley Chea and Fadima Tall, each scoring 10 points.
The game was closely contested, with neither team leading by more than five points in the first quarter. Princeton took a 39-31 advantage into halftime after a strong second quarter, where they went on a 10-2 run and hit five three-pointers.
In the third quarter, the Tigers expanded their lead to 16, but Seton Hall made a significant push, ending the quarter on a 14-2 run to narrow the gap to 58-54. Critical moments in the fourth quarter saw Cristina Parrella knock down two corner three-pointers to extend Princeton’s lead to 11. Despite Seton Hall’s late push, Princeton secured the win with four free throws down the stretch.
Head coach Carla Berube’s team finished 12-of-19 from three-point range, achieving a 63.2 percent shooting percentage from deep. This performance marked the first time Princeton has shot over 60 percent since a 94-57 win against Cornell on February 27, 2016.
This victory is the sixth win for Princeton over Seton Hall in their last eight meetings. The Tigers will next face Rutgers on Sunday, with tip-off scheduled for 2 p.m.
