Priscilla Presley Opens Up About Elvis and Robert Kardashian

Los Angeles, CA – Priscilla Presley, 80, is sharing personal stories about her past relationships in her upcoming memoir, “Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis.” In the book, Presley reflects on her time with the late attorney Robert Kardashian during her divorce from Elvis Presley.
Priscilla dated Kardashian in 1975, two years after her split from Elvis. Kardashian passed away from esophageal cancer in 2003 at the age of 59, while Elvis died of a heart attack in 1977 at 42.
In her memoir, Priscilla recounts a night when Elvis called her at 2 a.m., unaware she was with Kardashian. “It hadn’t crossed [Elvis’] mind that I might have been asleep. It had certainly never occurred to him that I might be with another man,” Priscilla wrote. She vividly remembers how she rushed to answer the phone without waking Kardashian.
“He’d have gone ballistic, maybe literally, if he’d known Robert was in my bedroom,” she added, describing Elvis as someone who always carried a loaded gun. Priscilla expressed that, despite their divorce, Elvis struggled with the idea of her being with someone new.
Priscilla and Kardashian’s relationship lasted about a year. She shared that she found it challenging due to Kardashian’s demanding job. “Robert wanted to get married, but I knew it wouldn’t work. I wasn’t ready to marry again,” she said. Despite their romantic relationship ending, the two remained friends.
Before Kardashian’s death, Priscilla revealed that they had a final conversation organized by his daughter, Kim. “He was the kindest of men, and I remember him with great affection,” Priscilla noted.
Priscilla’s daughter, Lisa Marie, tragically died this year. Speaking about her loss, she called it “the second saddest day of my life, other than losing Elvis.” Having spent extensive time at the hospital, she recalled the heart-wrenching moment when doctors delivered the news of Lisa Marie’s passing.
The memoir, which is set to be published on September 23, promises to offer an in-depth look at Priscilla’s life, her relationships, and the pain of losing loved ones.
