Trump Birthday Protests June 14

Washington, D.C. — On June 14, protesters across the U.S. are set to hold coordinated demonstrations against President Donald Trump to mark his 79th birthday. The protests, organized by the 50501 Movement, also coincide with Flag Day and the Army’s 250th birthday.

The 50501 Movement includes 50 protests in all 50 states under the slogan ‘No Kings.’ Organizers want June 14 to be a ‘nationwide day of defiance’ to challenge what they describe as authoritarianism coming from the Trump administration.

In their statement on the ‘No Kings’ website, the organizers said, ‘From city blocks to small towns, from courthouse steps to community parks, we’re taking action to reject authoritarianism—and show the world what democracy really looks like.’ They emphasized that their protests aim to assert that the flag belongs to the people, not to any individual leader.

The organizers derided the upcoming military parade planned for Trump’s birthday, noting the significant taxpayer expense involved. Previous reports indicated that the parade could cost as much as $45 million, a point Trump defended recently, calling it ‘peanuts compared to the value of doing it.’

‘I view it for Flag Day, not necessarily my birthday,’ Trump told NBC News on ‘Meet the Press,’ downplaying the events as celebratory for himself.

In past months, various demonstrations against Trump and his policies have occurred, including ‘Not My Presidents Day’ and ‘Hands Off!’ protests. The 50501 Movement has encouraged Americans to join demonstrations in their cities or organize local events of their own.

‘The wannabe dictator wants a party? Well then, let’s show him some ‘love,’ the movement stated via Instagram, emphasizing that the real power lies with the people of America.
