Punjab Language Department Literary Awards

The Punjab Language Department has announced its selections for the top ten literary book awards for the year 2022. Among the awarded works is ‘Udna Baaz’ by Navdeep Singh Gill, a sports writer from Barnala. Gill’s book has been recognized with the prestigious Bhai Veer Singh Award.

According to Jaswant Singh Zafar, the Director of the Punjab Language Department, the awards will be presented during a state-level function scheduled for the first week of November. This event will take place at Bhasha Bhawan in Patiala.

Navdeep Singh Gill is currently employed as an Information and Public Relations Officer with the Punjab Government at the Punjab Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh. His literary contributions include the authorship of 13 books, with 12 of these works focusing specifically on sports and sports figures.

The government of Punjab announced an additional nine book awards for literary works published in Punjabi in 2024, covering various categories within the Best Literary Book Awards initiative. These awards are aimed at promoting and celebrating Punjabi literature and recognize the efforts of authors who contribute significantly to its development.
