Purdue Athletics Opengate Security System

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Purdue Athletics is enhancing fan safety and streamlining entry at its venues by introducing OPENGATE entry systems. The new technology will be implemented at all athletic facilities, beginning November 12, 2025.

OPENGATE aims to reduce manual bag searches by using a detection system. Fans will walk through two pillars that will automatically scan their bags, purses, and personal items. If security personnel feel further checks are necessary, they will ask fans to step aside for additional screening.

The introduction of OPENGATE will not replace the existing clear bag policy. This policy remains in effect to ensure the safety of all attendees at Purdue Athletics events. Fans are encouraged to visit Purdue Athletics’ website for more information regarding the Clear Bag Policy.

The rollout of OPENGATE will occur gradually across all athletic venues, improving the efficiency of entry points while maintaining a secure environment.
