Queen Latifah The Equalizer Final Season Tribute

NEW YORK, NY — Queen Latifah is set to make her final appearance as street vigilante Robyn McCall in CBS‘s drama series “The Equalizer” this Sunday, following the network’s cancellation of the show after five seasons. The action-packed series, which began airing in 2021, showcased Latifah’s character, a former CIA operative turned protector of those in need.

The final episode of the fifth season will also serve as the show’s series finale, marking the end of an era for both the actress and her devoted fans. Latifah, who is also an executive producer for the show, expressed her gratitude in an Instagram post shortly after learning of the cancellation. She wrote, “Stepping into a kick-ass role like Robyn was everything I hoped it would be… The Equalizer blew past every dream we had for it, and having the opportunity to do this for five seasons honestly feels surreal.”

Latifah, 55, paid homage to her co-stars, crew, and loyal viewers, thanking them for their support throughout the show’s run. She hinted at future projects, assuring fans, “don’t worry—I’ll be back kicking ass in something new real soon.” The series also featured talented actors such as Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, Laya DeLeon Hayes, and Lorraine Toussaint.

The show is a reimagining of the 1985 series of the same name, originally starring Edward Woodward. Latifah’s portrayal of McCall garnered acclaim, resulting in awards nominations, including the NAACP Image Awards, where she won Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series in February 2025. However, viewership dropped significantly in its final season, averaging less than 6 million viewers per episode, down from 7.89 million previously.

CBS’s decision to cancel “The Equalizer” follows a pattern of cutting other law enforcement-themed dramas, including “S.W.A.T.” and “FBI: Most Wanted.” The impact of these cancellations has resonated with fans, many of whom took to various platforms to express their disappointment and support for the show and its cast.

As the television landscape continues to evolve, Queen Latifah’s contribution to the series has cemented her place in Hollywood, and while “The Equalizer” may be concluding, its legacy and the iconic character of Robyn McCall will likely resonate with viewers for years to come.
