Quinnipiac Women’s Basketball Hits Milestone with Win Over Sacred Heart

HAMDEN, Conn. — The Quinnipiac women’s basketball team celebrated a commanding 71-47 victory over Sacred Heart on February 13, marking their 20th win of the season.
From the opening tip-off, it was evident that the game would not be a typical matchup. Freshman point guard Gal Raviv found herself immediately surrounded by defenders, showcasing the physical nature of the contest. The match featured a series of jump balls, trips to the free throw line, and players hitting the ground frequently.
Sacred Heart’s junior guard Ny’Ceara Pryor emerged as a key player, finishing the game with 17 points on 6-for-12 shooting. However, it was Quinnipiac’s Raviv who shined brightly, tallying 22 points and demonstrating her skill with a polished mid-range game.
“I think we started off the game a little slow,” Raviv said. “But after our first timeout, we picked it up.” The Bobcats held a 13-point lead at halftime, a margin they maintained throughout the second half.
As the third quarter began, Sacred Heart struggled with turnovers, allowing Quinnipiac to extend their lead to 18 points. The Pioneers could not recover from this deficit.
The victory was significant for head coach Tricia Fabbri, marking her 13th season with 20 or more wins. “Twenty wins is a good season. That’s a big number, especially with games to go and to build upon. And I’m really proud of the ladies. They have us at 20-3; I mean that’s amazing,” Fabbri noted.
In the final minutes of the game, with the starters resting, first-year forward Emma Lizotte scored her first career points, igniting cheers from the bench. “(Emma’s) working her ass off every single day in scout at practice,” said senior forward Grace LaBarge. “So for her to get in and get two blocks in about 30 seconds, that was amazing to watch.”
As the Bobcats approach the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Tournament, their team chemistry appears to be stronger than ever. They will next face Iona in New York on February 15, with tip-off scheduled for 1 p.m.
