Raiders Sign Running Back Raheem Mostert in Reshaped Offense

Las Vegas, NV – The Las Vegas Raiders have signed former Pro Bowl running back Raheem Mostert to a one-year deal, as reported by Sports’ Jordan Schultz. Mostert joins the Raiders after a season with the Miami Dolphins, where he posted 278 rushing yards and two touchdowns.
Mostert, 32, previously enjoyed a significant career revival, achieving personal bests in 2022 when he rushed for 1,012 yards and 18 touchdowns, securing his first Pro Bowl selection that year. Despite a lower performance last season, he adds experience to the Raiders’ restructured offense as they seek to improve a struggling running game.
In 2024, raiders’ rushing attack finished at the bottom of the league, accumulating just 1,357 rushing yards. Veteran Alexander Mattison led the team with 420 rushing yards, but he and fellow running back Ameer Abdullah faced significant challenges. The Raiders aim to enhance their rushing performance, having struggled in this area for the past season.
Mostert’s career began in 2015 after signing with the Philadelphia Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of Purdue. His journey took him through several teams including the Dolphins and Ravens, but it was with the San Francisco 49ers that Mostert truly flourished under head coach Kyle Shanahan. He enjoyed breakout performances, particularly in the 2019 postseason when he became a crucial player in leading the 49ers to the NFC Championship.
The Raiders’ decision to sign Mostert coincides with their need for a reliable running back. The team opened the current season with Zamir White but saw his performance falter, prompting the search for a more stable option. By bringing Mostert into the mix, the Raiders are hopeful he can contribute significantly and provide leadership as the team strives to improve its offensive capabilities.
