Rangers Set to Sign Mohamed Diomande from FC Nordsjælland
Rangers are on the verge of completing their second signing of the January transfer window as they close in on FC Nordsjælland midfielder Mohamed Diomande. The 22-year-old, who hails from the renowned Right to Dream academy in Ghana, is expected to sign for the Scottish club after leaving Nordsjælland’s training camp in America.
Having already secured the services of Fabio Silva on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers, Rangers manager Philippe Clement has been working to bolster his squad further. Diomande, who made his Superliga debut against AC Horsens, has emerged as one of the most promising players in the Danish league and has also earned international recognition with the Ivory Coast.
Primarily operating from the left side of midfield, Diomande also possesses the versatility to play centrally. His arrival will provide Clement with an additional option as he aims to bolster Rangers’ title challenge in the Premiership.
The news of Diomande’s signing comes as Rangers wait anxiously for an update on Abdallah Sima’s fitness. The Senegalese forward sustained a thigh injury while on duty at AFCON and has returned to Glasgow for assessment. Rangers’ victory over Dumbarton in the Scottish Cup saw them progress to the next round, but the potential absence of Sima could pose a significant blow to their attacking options.
Reacting to the injury, Clement stated, ‘We have to wait for a proper assessment, but Sima will return as quickly as possible to determine the extent of the injury and the recovery period.’
Rangers fans will be hoping that Diomande’s imminent arrival will offset the potential absence of Sima and contribute to the team’s pursuit of the Premiership title.
